Ever since she was a just wee baby, I’ve always looked after my cousin Arian, and she swiftly grew into a lady right before my eyes. She’s the youngest girl in our clan and that was why everyone was so happy when she graduated as valedictorian of her class. When her graduation came, I instinctively did her hair and makeup. It was my honor and pleasure to have been part of one of the greatest milestones of her life. Along Arian, I also did her best friend’s hair and makeup. Lovely, by the way, also graduated with honors.
Since Arian brought her toga and cap with her, my sister decided to take their graduation pictures as well:
I also went to their graduation event to watch my cousin deliver her valedictory speech. It was heartfelt and I think I shed a tear! The event was held at Gloria’s Bahay Handaan—an open gathering hall with ample ventilation. It was a good thing that the weather was fair during that time so Arian and Lovely weren’t sweating throughout the program. I grabbed the photos that they took during and after the event:
Arian after the event. My proud uncle had a tarpaulin mounted for my cousin!
Lovely looked Jessy Mendiola-ish in that red dress! This was taken after the event.

I wasn’t able to post blog entries regarding my clients last graduation season. I’ve been very busy these past months, and I kept forgetting about my blog! Anyway, I still believe in the saying, “better late than never!” So now I’ll start posting about the clients I worked with last graduation season.
Nowadays, most customers who book me for services find me through the Internet—either through Facebook or Google search. If I remember it correctly, Jem was one of them. Jem has a face shaped like Betty Boop’s so I decided to put her hair in loose, elegant curls. For the makeup, we went with a graduation makeup that will make her look sweet—something appropriate for her age.
In the Philippines, graduation season starts at the beginning of summer when the weather is humid. I’ve met a number of foreigners and balikbayans who say that the apart from the humid weather in the country, there’s also water in the atmosphere. I couldn’t agree more. That is why I always ask my clients if the event will be held in an air conditioned room. Their hair will be affected by humidity and water and asking for curls that are let down is pointless. Even with ample products like anti-humidity mousse and hairspray, their curls won’t hold up.
The case is a bit different for Nicole. She said her even though her graduation will take place in an open area, the event will start in the evening. So, we decided to put her hair half up and half down. Since she is also graduating from high school, I gave her a look that is appropriate for her age.
Thicker eyebrows make one look younger. That’s why Cara Delevigne can pass as a high school girl!
Photos were taken by my sister, Eunice. By the way, the only manipulation that she does on the photos that I post entails color correction, cropping, and stitching. She does not erase blemishes and such. That is why if you look closely at the photos, you will still see bumps (for clients with acne).
This was one of my last gigs for the year 2014, but definitely not the least. It was a very relaxing and refreshing gig because the location was at The Farm at San Benito in Batangas. They only serve organic and healthy food there, and the air was fresh. There was even a yoga session in the morning. There was a typhoon during the shoot, but since Abi and Kendall got a very talented photographer, their photos still turned out excellent. Abi asked for a simple makeup with elegant hairstyles for this shoot. Here are the photos from the prenup session.

A portrait is a wonderful keepsake, and in Danny’s case, a gift to her husband who works abroad. When she commissioned us to take her photos, my sister and I were thrilled. It is always easier to work with clients who are creative, and Danny suggested a number of beautiful pegs. We decided to create two looks for her–simple and clean + smokey eyes with floral hair accessories.

You can book us for your portrait session–we give reasonable packages! Our packages are inclusive of 2 looks, edited copies, unedited copies, and print copies.
My sister owns a makeshift studio, but from time to time, we rent photo studios for shoots. We were booked for a portrait session at Studio Makati, and she wanted to try taking photos there before the actual gig. We took the opportunity to expand our portfolio so we asked Joy Razon to model for us. Eunice wanted to go for a Renaissance portrait look. This look is characterized by curly hair, pale face, blushy cheeks, long eyelashes, and natural eyeshadow. Here are the photos that my sister took:
Joy looks like Carla Abellana here!
My sister said that she liked how the light bounces inside the studio, and overall it was a good experience. The studio has its own makeup station and dressing area. Here’s a photo of me while working.
Post-it messages from previous clients.
You just have to remind the studio personnel to arrive on time. Our schedule was 9AM, and she arrived past 9:30AM. According to their terms, you still have to pay for an hour even if you consumed 30mins. What a bummer.
People might think that the famous “no-makeup-makeup” can be accomplished easily. If you think that a thin layer of powder, lip balm, and brow pencil will do the trick, you are dead wrong! It is more complicated than that. If you put too much, you will look too made up (which defeats the concept of the “no makeup” look), and if you do not put enough, you won’t be able to conceal skin imperfections. In this series, I worked with Elyss Martinez to achieve the no-makeup-makeup look.
Here’s her before shot:
No flash was used here so the lighting condition was poor. But like the usual, Elyss’s eye area was darker than the rest of her face so we worked on concealing her dark circles along with her pimples scars.
Here are Elyss’s headshots after the makeup:

I noticed that my last post was from last year! So I’ve decided to update my site and start from my favorite couple – Izzy and Yay. Ate Yay and I went to the same grade school. She was batches ahead of me, but our school was so small that students got to know all their classmates on a personal level! I was so excited when she contacted me to do her makeup for her pre-natal shoot because we haven’t seen each other in ages. She wanted to do a simple shoot with two outfit changes, so we went for a fresh look. I also did grooming for Kuya Izzy–just a thin layer of foundation for him. Here are the photos from the shoot, photos were taken by my sister:

BTW, ate Yay recently gave birth to her healthy and cute baby boy! I’m so happy for them. 🙂
